I have a 1.7 corsa diesel. I am having some serious money issues atm and am looking at how to spend less on my fuel and my mate recommended cooking oil. He said his dad used it in an old diesel landrover and it ran fine, if not better, until he twin turboed it and it blew up.

Looking over the internet i have found mixed views on it. Does anyone know for definate if it will kill my car?

id always opt for bio diesel over svo (straight vegtable oil) your car will run alot better
assuming you make the bio diesel correctly you it shouldnt kill your car, cant say the same for svo...

plus bio diesel you can use in the winter... svo you may struggle!

that said for bio diesel you would need to buy (or make) a reactor kit... cheap enough well, will pay for its self eventualy!

Also check the law on that one - if you use it as fuel you need to pay fuel tax if I remember right...

I wouldnt be using SVO (getting with the cool new abreviations ;)) id mix it say 30% with diesel, so that it could mix and not be bad in winter. Also it should mean it would run better.

On the question of law, id just hope not to get caught, like the people on here with redops registered as 1.2 8v lol. plus if i was mixing it with more diesel it shouldnt smell like a chippy
