spark plugs??

Hi I have a 1995 Corsa 1.2 8v, and am trying to change the spark plugs. The ones I bought are NGK BPR5ES which are supposedly the right ones, but the hex nut measures 21mm so by the time you put the plug in the recess there's no room for a spark plug socket!

The hex on the old plugs was 16mm across the flats, so am I doing something wrong or is Mr. Haynes getting it wrong? The ones I am looking at now are BKR5E as they have a 16mm hex, but I am at a loss over which ones I should be using :(

Not sure if mr haynes is getting it wrong because i cant find where it says the size in my manual. But why not just buy ones you had in already? The 16mm ones because then you know they do fit.

Yeah good point, but I went off what was 'recommended' by NGK for the car, the haynes manual and a post on another forum. Looks like I need to get them changed then, just gutted about wasting time!

hello there. I'm sorry if my post here was too late. Two years had passed since the topic here was posted. I have a spark plug issue a couple of months ago and I'm really having a hard time dealing into it. I also experience wrong measurement of hex nut. Because of that, I tried to buy denso spark plug and fortunately, it fits to all socket
