Hi every one

Well basicaly i want to smooth my front bumper (number plate recess and the line that runs round it) and my rear bumper and my boot handle and wipper.
Now i have basic knowledge of painting with rattle cans, i know how to paint but a bit unsure as of prep which brings me onto my question lol

I have herd to fill the number plate recess to use expanding foam and then fibre glass and filler over it? so the filler dosnt crack..does this sound right?

and another question is, when im painting a bumper (a different colour to mine) what grade sand paper should i use to key it?

Any advice would be muchly appresiated

I have never seen it done that way mate, all my mates welded a plate in theres, ground the welds flat then put filler on. Maybe someone else who works in a body shop will no more but thats new to me

As for the spraying I just used some wet and dry and took the shine off the paint (so its got a misty finish all over) then sprayed it. Looked perfect when finished aswel

Just remember you could be the best sprayer in the world but if the prep work isnt done properly (a rushed job) then the finish will look poo

i know of a few pwople that have used expanding foam with good results, the key to a good finish in painting is good prep, sand it down with sand paper, going down grades as you go and eventually getting to 1200 grit then wet and dry it till smooth, then either use panel wipe or warm water and fairy to get the dust off then leave to dry, then dont touch it at all so you dont get oil from your fingers no it, primer it, wet and dry it, clean, then paint few light coats of paint then a thicker coat, then few coats of laquer

Thanks for the replys lads i dont really want to pay to have it finished i would rather do it my self just in case the filler cracks in a few months time or some thing silly like that i will probibly be starting it at the end of the month so il get some pics up and let you know how its going
