Corsa B engine conversion

Hey all,

Im looking at swapping my 1.0 12v out replacing it with a big block 2.0, maybe c20ne from a cav (like the 8v's)

The cars a Corsa B, y-reg (2000), power steering (electric i think), no air con

Basically i want to make a shopping list of things i need, up to now ive googled and found i need:

Engine (complete)
Loom
Rad (which one? corsa)
F16 Gearbox
Brakes (cav ones straight swap with 14" wheels)
Exhaust from a 16v corsa?
Late spec conversion kit like this (body type 2)
> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CORSA-B-TYPE-2-2- ... arParts_SM
Extend the gear linkage by 15mm?

Any thing else i need to add?

Do i have to mod the anti roll bar?

Also, am i right in saying that I can use corsa 1.6 16v drive shafts and outer CV's coupled with cav 1.6d inner gearbox CV joints? and keeping my hubs?

thanks all,

Jay

also i think with the 1.0 corsa's you might have to replace the whole loom behind your dashboard, because the ECU's aernt in the footwell, if you google it, it should show up some information. also your radiator should be suitable for the job, plus you already have the top rad hose on your 1L that you can use for the conversion, and the F16 gearbox is alright, but if you want a better one look out for the F20 thats the better one of the two, you then need 2.0 16v brakes which will fit on 15inch alloys and larger, i dont know if they will fit a 14inch, but i was always told that they needed to be 15's. or you can look out for some v6 brakes, but then you will deff need 15inch alloys and larger, the exhaust im not to sure about, but you wont be able to use your 1L because they are of a smaller bore, but an 8v and 16v bore of the exhaust is the same, apart from one might be clamped and one flanged, but to join the two togeather it depends what end is on your manifold first, and yep you will need the type 2 kit because yours is a multi valve engine, and the gear linkage is a weird one, sometime you wont have to, but sometimes you will, a corsa 1.2 8v gear linkage will fit straight on with no problems, but a 16v linkage needs to be extended, but it might need the spacers, or it might not, that bits a trial and error situation. and yes you can use the 1.6 16v shafts and outer CV joints, and i know you need 2.0 inner CV joints, im not to sure on the Diesel models tho only this way you do have venerable outer CV joints due to them being smaller than standard 2.0 ones but you should be ok with an 8v engine, or if you can get hold of a set an equal shaft setup of a calibra is supposed to be a direct replacement, then you'l only need the larger hubs to account for the outer CV joints, or use the 1.6 outer CV's but again they are venerable due to being smaller.

hope this helps.
any more questions please ask :D hope i havent blaged your head

Hey thanks for the reply,

The wiring is pretty easy from what ive read, basically colour for colour. Not too worried about the exhaust, if i can get my hands on a larger bore'd version i can weld it on. I will have to keep an eye out for a 1.2 8v linkage again, but if not, the welder will come out :)

So are all corsa hubs the same? 1.0, 1.2, 1.6 16v??

I also need a 1.2 16v fuel pump as ive read they can supply enough fuel for a c20let, that true?

So, Just need to sort Engine/gearbox mounts, fuel pump, loom wiring and drive shafts? nothing else to think about?

See i want to make a bit of a sleeper, keep the 12v badges and low spec etc. Plus i dont want to start fitting everything only to have missed something and be stranded without a car for a couple weeks.

Just got sort brakes and suspension but thats the easy bit.

Ive done a conversion before on my old mk2 golf, went from a carb'ed 1.6 to an injection 2.0, was really easy on the vw as its all plug and play.

thanks again,

Jay

the hubs are all the same, its the splines on the shafts that make the difference, the 1, 1.2, 1.4, are the same and the 1.6 and 2.0 are the same.

Any truth in the 1.2 16v fuel pump being able to supply the big blocks?

thanks

sorry but your wrong, all standard corsa hubs are the same no matter what the engine is.........but 2 litre hubs have more splines on them and need to machined down to fit the bearings

i would just fit a 2 litre feul pump and be done wit hit, no point in cutting corners

yea thats what i said but in a weird way, all the hubs are the same on corsas, its the shaft splines that are different the 1, 1.2 and 1.4 shaft splines are the same the 2.0 and the 1.6 have the same amount of shaft splines. but like liam said the 2.0 hub needs to be machined down to fit the bearings in the corsa hub bit.

standard bottom hose, and you can use a 1L top hose. i know thats for the 2.0 16v anyway.

ive got a 12v already, i will have to have a look at them.

I dont have the bottom hose so just get a cav c20ne then one then?

one more thing,

These fuel pumps any good? Seems to be able to supply the larger 200bhp+ engines as well as the small ones, plus its the 3.8 bar one
