I have bought a 1998 1.4i GLS 67k miles non starter because of a head gasket failure, cooked the engine, the previouse owner had removed the head and sent it away to the machine shop which gave him the bad news it was usless like the rest of the engine. When I bought it I bought a replacement engine out of a Cora, same engine same year, had to swop wiring loom over and other components.
Ok fitted engine but have got several faults;

1. None starter.
2. engine not turning over
3. with key in on position no warning lights working
4. with key in off position the oil warning light is on
5. petrol flooding the inlet manifold

Now for the stupid infomation, not being ofay with vauxhalls normally a rover person the battery terminal say it is a positive earth connection is this correct.

I have checked the main fuse(the only fuse, drivers side) in the engine compartment, checked all the fuese under the steering wheel all ok

So short of putting a match to it can onybody give any advise, all suggestions or ideas welcome

Why did you have to swap over the engine loom if its the same engine?
