Reverse grind/stiff gears

Hi,

Over the past few days reverse gear on my corsa has been excessively grinding when attempting to put it into reverse, whereas before the gear would grind but only slightly before slipping into gear.

Now I have to push the stick quite forcefully through the grinding for it to go into reverse.

Also gears, mainly 1 and 3, are quite stiff to put into. E.g. After pulling out onto a roundabout I struggled to get the car into gear 2 and obviously away from oncoming traffic.

This has only just started and since april this year, I havent had any problems like this and changing gears was something I never had to think about.

Anyone have any idea why it might have suddenly changed?

Thanks for any replies.

I first had this today oddly enough, but it went away as quickly as it came.

How did you know it was the clutch cable and how did you sort it? Glad to know it wasn't anything more serious!

sorry for the delayed reply.

I took it to a local garage, he sat in the car and pressed the clutch. Straight after he opened the bonit and twisted something on the right hand side of the engine. Took about 4 seconds. The problem with mine is that the clutch wasnt pressing all the way down i.e. it was pressing down all the way in the car but the actual clutch wasnt.

sorry for the vague explanation I cant think of technical terms to describe it lol
