Hey guys, not really done much in the way of modding my car yet, the usual bump strip and badge removal is about the extent of my project right now, after starting my new job I finally have some money to spare so thought I would look into some more serious stuff. Its pretty obvious these go together so i thought i would get some background info before buying the two and finding later on they don't fit together .

First up is wheels, been scouring the forum and seen that its best to have a wheel with ET49 offset, apart from getting 4 stud is there anything else to look out for? Was hoping to get some wheels along the lines of the Team Dynamics ProRace 3 (15" 5 spoke in white, yumm )

Next was the suspension. Again, looked over the posts and seen there are either springs or coilovers. Leaning more towards the coilovers for the fact they are adjustable. Is there anything to check when buying them except how low they go or are they all the same?

Sorry for the n00b-ness but kinda want to get it right and not end up spending ridiculous amounts of money on something I don't know that well haha.

u say your going for coilovers because they are adjustable, realisticly are you ever actually gona adjust them once there on the car?

also look into clearence problems, a number of people on here and other forums, including me have had problems with clearence between the bottom adjuster and the tyre. i've sold my coilovers and have got lowering springs and shocks. never had any problems yet. everybody buys coilovers cos there "coilovers " and u can adjust them. but 9 out 10 people dont adjust them i reckon.

I thought coilovers might be better because it would be a full upgrade from my old standard stuff, plus I thought seeing as the wheels I was looking at were pretty expensive.. I would be lowering it first haha. Meaning I can set it all up with the steelies I have now then adjust it all when I finally get some wheels..? I probably wont adjust them all the time like you say but just looks like an over all better kit, not that I know a lot about it :L

im guessing you think im on about jst putting lowering springs on standard shocks? i mean get a fullkit. lowering springs, uprated and shortened shocks.

but like i said, look into clearence problems, i ruined 2 new tyres cos mine rubbed. the adjusted rubbed its way into the side wall about 4-5mm and wasnt far away from causing a blow out.

Sorry yeah, thought you were just on about putting in new springs alone.. but yeah that's the sort of thing I wanted to find out , especially the clearance issue.. thanks.

How low do you have yours on springs?

yh there a popular kit, mines 60mm at the moment.
