Rattle when when i accelarate and engine is hot. Detonation

Hope someone can help. Got a 1.4 corsa b sohc 8 v with 57 k on it. When engine is hot i seem to get a rattle when i feather the accelarator does'nt happen when its cold or warming up just when it gets over 96c on the gauge! saying that my stat dnt open to it hits 100c the rattle happens in all gears and im thinking its detonation or my cat convertor is dodgy ( i did smell a rotten egg type smell coming from exhaust just once though) if anyone has any tips for pinpointing what it is and where exactly my cat is would be much appreciated cheers.

Just had look at the exhaust heat sheild and noticed the bottom bolt thats meant to hold it on (the one on bottom of sheild on its own) is'nt actually holding the sheild down does move but the noise only happens when engine is hot and am moving so its hard to tell if thats the cause. Any idea's any1?

if you think its the heat shield. you talking about the one covering the manifold? if it is then just take it off and try it. and if you jack your car up and put axle stand under it so it dont trap you. its in the middle of the car in the tunnel. and youl notice it when you see it cause its different from the rest of the exhausts. just give it a shack see if it rattles and if it does change your cat. or just take it off altogether.

Thanx m8! Yeah it was the sheild on the manifold i was meaning. I just bent it up out the way and it seems to be a lot better still hear it a bit but not as bad so i assume i aint got detonation. Goina start putting super unleaded in anyway il give it a treat lmao.
