Will it rub? Advice please.

Hi,
I've just purchased some vauxhall alloys, offset 49 and the tyres on them are 185/55/15. I know 195/45/15 is ideal but would the current tyres rub if lowered 40mm with springs?
Thanks.

nope they wont scrub mate
because they're vauxhall alloys, you can drop LOADS if you keep vauxhall alloys, thats why every corsa you see mainly has vauxhall alloys on

i cant see why it would rub anyway... and 40mm should be alright, ebay is good place to get low pro cheap tyres from you can get 195 45 15 tyres (set of 4) for like £120 delivered.

Yeah I looked a few weeks ago and someone was selling lower profile tyres for about £120 and did free fitting but not going to bother if these tyres will be fine, since good tyres. Going to get the springs and alloys fitted next weekend if anyone can do it that quick. Thanks

you still have to get them fitted and balanced then though which is £15 a tyre usually so that makes it £180

No dont do 60/40 i have mine lowered 60/40 and buying new springs 40/40 as i have 16" speedlines with 195/45/16 but cant fit them as the front is too low, ive also tried a set of astra 6 spokes on see if they would fit with 185/55/15 and they rub too so stick too 40/40, plus if you have mudflaps on the front like i do they scrap on speedbumps so does the front splitter, as the car sits front down.

Oh ok i see thats probs best then. Just picked up 40/40 springs now anyway. Just another question, is it better get uprated shocks for the springs? Heard the standard shocks get knackered on different springs?? Thanks

my car was on 70 rear and 60-65 front and the only thing that would catch is the mudflaps on the floor or catseyes so you should be ok, thats et49 and 6j cesaros

Think i might just buy 40mm all round springs with shocks for about 115, rather play it safe and know theyll last, that should be ok? Thanks

i brought a shock and spring kit, never had coilovers so cant really comment, but my ride is good and very stiff, drives miles better. No bouncy business around corners like before on standard shocks and springs. Value for money i would say shocks and springs as the only difference i see is you can change the ride hieght whenever with coilovers (GOOD FOR SHOWS)
