C12NZ engine nearly cutting out when clutch depressed

Hi,
My first post so go easy if I screw up or sound stupid please!
I've got an L-reg 1.2 8v (C12NZ engine) and have had it a year now. About 3-4 months ago just after it passed it's MOT I noticed that (seemingly pretty randomly at first) when I pulled up to a set of lights or a roundabout and pressed the clutch, the engine would go close to stalling before bringing itself back and idling rough whilst I was waiting. A quick rev of the engine would sort this out most of the time but the problem got worse to the point of cutting out a couple of weeks ago. I have also been getting the car jerking slightly whilst cruising (though this does not happen all the time) and I have a very nice garage who replace lots of things for free if it doesn't fix the problem. It seems to be worse at either cold or high temperatures with not much happening in between. The list of parts I've had replaced are as follows:
Air filter
Fuel filter
Distributor cap
Rotor arm
Coil pack & sensor (equivalent to crank sensor but the name escapes me)
Distributor
HT leads
Spark plugs
Battery
Alternator
As you can probably tell my mechanic is getting rather annoyed every time I drive it back in the place with me only having paid about £200 for that lot. The distributor was the last thing to be replaced and I have seen a big improvement since (no cutting out and doesn't come quite as close to stalling), and also see an improvement when I use Redex, but it has not quite solved the problem. Should I be looking to replace the Idle Control Valve or EGR valve now? And does the C12NZ have an EGR valve as I can't find anything in the Haynes manual about it?
I am taking it in for an oil and oil filter replacement with treatment in a couple of days to see if that improves anything - hasn't had an oil change in about 15,000 miles but I'm topping it up every 1,000 or so anyway as it seems to burn it off or p*ss it away at that rate anyway.
Any advice would be welcome. Ta
