Petrol dripping from throttle body

Hi,
I have a 96 Corsa 1.2 engine with single fuel injector and I have noticed a strong smell of petrol when starting from cold. I have only noticed it twice in freezing weather.

Just by chance today I noticed petrol seams to drip from under the throttle position sensor onto the manifold, but stops when the engine warms up. I don't know if it has really stopped leaking or the petrol is just evaporating before it drips.

Anybody know where its coming from?

Thanks!

not 100% but when i rebuilt my 1.0, the fuel rail is right under the throttle body housing, inbetween that and the inlet manifold, mine also was leaking petrol at one point but i just took the 4 hex screws out of the Throttle body housing and then got the carb off and then just wiggled the injectors in a bit more, i think i had bent one slightly when i first put it together, might be the same thing?

the 1.2 96 is a 8v 4 cyl i believe and the 1.0l is a 12v 3cyl

yep the 1.2 8v doesnt have multiple injectors only the one which is built into the throttle body :D but you will tend to notice it more in the cold because the choke will tend to be on for longer, plus if you have an air filter this will again be more noticeable due to the thinner membrane alowing the odour to escape, i had the same smell on my 1.2 8v when i had it running in cold weather.

I also am having the very same problem with the petrol dripping from the throttle body. I have noticed that the choke stays on for ever on my 1994 M Reg Vauxhall Corsa GLS 5dr Auto 1.4 Petrol. And the throttle pedal is hard to push in cold weather. Also I filled the car with petrol and I only got 130 miles in return!

In the freezing weather I have noticed a strong smell of petrol and also noticed the engine is not burning petrol properly and the petrol is coming out of the exhaust white-ish with strong smell of petrol.

This morning, I had a good look inside the throttle body and noticed smell of petrol and looked quite mucky with thin oily black/browny slime on the inside of the throttle body. Now, I don't now if the bottom small hole is totally blocked??

Any guide on how to get to the throttle body?

Thanks!
