hi guys, i have 1.4 sport corsa & aiming for 130 bhp :P
ive currently got bmc panel filter, drilled n deristricted airbox and sportex straight through exhaust
ive also got 4 branch to go on (dont want to de-cat either)
and i have vx 16 valve inlet box on the way (I think, currently being messed around on ebay)
ooh and uprating brakes cause i want to be able to stop lol
do you think with them and a ecu remap i will achieve 130 bhp (think its 90 bhp as standard)
if not any ideas for anything else?
Thanks

i think you'll be pushing it to get that much hp from standard in such an old car, definately not with just a new exhaust system, they only add up to about 15hp, if that, maybe not even 10hp, to get 130hp why not just get a 2.0ltr from a calibra or something and stick that in, then with no engine mods you have your 130hp, then your not putting strain on the engine.

another thing to consider, a 2.0ltr calibra engine, has about 130-136hp standard, a 1.4 corsa sport has 90, you would have to make up for that extra 0.6 of a ltr with engine mods.
:)

hmm, yeahh could be right, it will be hard to achieve, but i would rather try and achieve it out of a small block 1.4 rather than 2 litre. apparently the inlet gives 15-20bhp alone, soo i dont know. if not i could drop in 1.6 as all my stuff i have brought would go straight on to that :) thanks for opinions anyway and i would rather not push it off cliff lmaooo

it is possible to get the small block engines 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v up to high hp because this is what they were designed for, but when they finished building them and were testing them out on dyno they were producing the same if not more hp than the big daddy the 2.0 16v redtop, so they did loads of things to the small block engines to reduce they're power so it didnt put the larger engines to shame, thats why you have about 1.5metres on intake hose and a weird shaped intake manifold system, and a small bore exhaust system! these engines are soo restricted its unbelievable, but it will take alot of doing because they adjusted everything, you'd have to take the head off and port it out and new manifold, and cams, and stand alone ecu, and power box etc then you should be up around 160bhp, the standard crank and rods and pistons are perfect to around 8,500 rpm max aswell thats why when you add a power box and free flowing exhaust system all the torque is moved to the top end of the rev range, it doesnt start to kick in until around 5,000rpm and its still pulling when you touch the limiter! so when you get the stand alone management system get the rev limiter set higher aswell.

thanks for the info, very interesting. the inlet did seem to be a odd design to me lol, well i myt aswell aim for 160hp now :P haha jokes, ill settle for 120hp but try n squeeze it out to 130hp.
