hey needing a bit of advice! only done one trip in my r plate 1,4 corsa in last week and it was only bout 6 mile. problem is today i went out to tick her over and noticed a fair bit of steam coming out xhaust so i popped bonnet and coolant leval was fine and dipstick had pure oil on it no water etc. but to my horror i saw the dreaded mayo like colour on the oil cap.could this be due to the very cold weather and not taking it a proper drive? or possibly hg failure. my oil seems fine same with coolant. was hoping the steam from xhaust could be condensation as well.any help much appreciated thanx. cars a 1,4 98 corsa with 58 k on it.

yes it could be, but wen was the oil last changed? all vauxhalls do it if its not changed evry 6 months if it cheap crap oil, the good stuff normally lasts a bit longer, as for the smoke, you'll notice all cars will smoke even when its up to temp this weather,
hope this help :)

il give it a right good blast on the motorway when weather gets beta hope that sorts it out:) usually is 10/40 but i put a thicker oil in as my oil light kept flickirin at idle seems to have cured the problem lol.

why not change the oil preassure switch before putting thicker oil in the car, thicker oil can cause more problems in the cold as it takes longer to thin out causing more wear on the engine
