1994 1.2 not running right until warm

Post by Cobrac »

Hi guys,
Hoping you can help me, my friend has a 1.2 1994 corsa , she recently had the head gasket done on it but since then, the cars not running right until warm.

She explained that if she drove the car straight away, the car would cut out if she braked for lights etc, but this does not happen once the car is warm. Once the car is at temp, it will drive all day with no problems. Once parked , if its left over 20 -30 mins, its the same as the morning, ie, needing to keep it ticking over until warm , then there are no issues.

Anyone know what this could be, I thought maybe it was something to do with a choke not coming on? maybe a carb set-up problem, or mass air flow ?

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

could be the idle control valve mate, check the FAQ for a guide to cleaning it. there about £90 to replace so if cleaning it doesnt do it pinch one from a scrappy and try that, rather than spending £90 if your not 100% that its the problem.
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Thanks Matty, I will go over and check one evening first, just in case a hose come off somewhere, if not I'll try cleaning the ICV and MAF sensor at the weekend

Cheers
