Strange Temepratures

Hi,

During the cold period over the past few weeks, the car has been taking around 20 minutes to get up to temperature (just below 90)

After the weather warmed up though, the temperature gauge has been going above 100 within 10 minutes.

When I check, the engine is not too hot to touch and the water tank is barely warm.

Could my sensor be lying to me?

And also, the overheating fan does not kick in at all though it usually does at 100.

I appreciate any help as now is not the time for my car to breakdown.

Sam

did you have antifreeze in your car? might have gone slushy in pipes and blocked the cold air coming through to keep the car cool?

I had the same problem too. When we have cold weather the needle never goes over half way. When warm and hot the needle is up towards the top. Whenever Ive had this issue I change the thermostate in the engine block behind cam belt.

As thermostates go, i will say the corsa has the most unreliable thermostate out of any car i've own. I end up changing mine at least once a year............

@squisheh Yes I did have antifreeze, how can I sort it if that is the problem?

@wastedagen Thannk you I will consider getting one if it is not the above problem, hopefully getting a corsa c soon though :D but to be honest, it needs to be done either way.

Thanks, Sam

not a clue mate sorry, i just know that if ice gets in your engine its knackered, i think flushing the whole system would get rid of the slush, but if its something different, like what wastedagen said, then flushing it could just be a waste of time.
