Any ideas guys?
Cheers

I get about 450 miles out of my 45 litre tank in my 2000 plate 1 litre 3 cylinder - thats about 37 mpg google reckons. I commute over the kingston bridge in glasgow so a good 2 hours stop start every day..

Mines a W with about 90k on it.
I take it there are no drips under it? Petrol filter on mine seems to leak every so often and needs done yearly, also its had its oil changed etc? Servicing does make a huge difference to mine. If I change the oil, oil filter, air filters etc it usually runs that bit sweeter for the next 500 odd miles. I do the oil and oil filter every 5k. Air and Petrol filters every year.
Tyre pressure as well, soft tyres waste fuel...
As for gearing I tend to use 1 to 4 to get to 30, stick in 4 for 30 ish and then go to 5th somewhere between 30 and 50, it likes that. I tend to stay between 1500 and 3000 revs, 99% of the time. Sometimes I go up to 5500 to get a good blat of oooomph to get going but not very often.

Had everything done service wise. Oil,fuel, air, pollen filter, oil change
No drips atall and the annoying thing is I dont have a rev counter
My oil is mineral so cheap not sure if that makes any difference?

lol mines even worse than that, i have a 1.2 (im guessing 8v not a clue :') ) i fill it near top and get about 250 miles out of it :')
@zackj i didnt have a rev counter either, but i got dash clocks from a tigra and put them in, literally just plug an play really, but with yours being a 1.0 3cyl you would need dash clocks from the same engine, its wired up differently or something, but you can get them with rev counters, then its an easy job to change over

i also have 1l 3cyl 12v T plate with 70,000 half a tank gets me 130miles thats with the needle half way in the red, i thought that was pretty pants, never filled her up full so carnt tell you how much i can get from her buddy.

Also the petrol gauge is quite random, I always get about 450 from a tank and I tend to use the trip counter rather than the petrol gauge to let me know how much petrol I have... For example I have done over 300 miles since I last filled her up and the petrol gauge shows half a tank - I know thats a lie!
Every little hatchback I have ever been in seems to have the same weirdness, I know my partners Kia gets more to a tank than my corsa but she only ever has about 30 miles worth of petrol left when it says the tanks 1/4 full on her car...

I fill my 1.0l 3cyl until the pump shuts off, I get ~200 miles by the time the gauge has dropped to 20 litres.
Lack of rev counter is easily fixed, the whole unit just pushes into one connector (Make sure it comes from a 3cyl/12v though, anything else gives wrong revs). Matched the mileage on mine too

Just did a calculator on mine and it comes out around 43mpg.
That's normally on a run around 50mph which is possibly around 3000rpm? That's a guess.
But then about 30 minutes of 75 - 80 mph on private roads obvs. which is much higher rpm.

i used to thrash my 1l everywhere. would take me 7 mins to get to work, so it would only just warm up
i was able to get 300 miles out of a tank and i never used to be within the speed limits haha
on my 1.2 16v i can just do 250 miles on a tank haha but now i have egr problems so she wont be doing many miles atm :/

Is it illegal to change the Speedo if it shows different mileage?
