hey guys

i dont normally need to post on here for help but this time even my laptop doesnt know what it is

the other day i stopped the car to get fuel. ever so slight incline. put £20 in

went to start the car up and nothing. just turned and turned, no fire

had to get some mates to push me to bump start it

new years eve, turned a left hand bend into a junction, car cut out and stopped. quick thinking foot wnt on clutch. tried to start her again, but still, turned and turned and turned

brain wave. as i was still rolling i wacked it into 2nd gear and loosed my foot off the clutch and away she went

put my laptop on, egr valve, msass air flow, idle control valve all were showing as faults.

changed the egr valve for one off a 1.0 12v which blocks the small metal pipe from having any function and the rest of the valve all the same, hoping it solves the problem

engine started fine

ran it for half hour, fine

took the car home, and as i was on tickover waiting for my old man to jump in to fetch the other car she stopped and wouldnt start again

plugged laptop back in. no faults

what is it?

i noticed that an earth wire has been pulled out and just the circular terminal has been left on a plate right next to the egr valve, but i cant seem to find any trace of an earth wire in the loom

could that be my problem. its funny how its only been the last 4 days though and not since i bought it, but the egr valve did have a broken female plug bit

cheers guys and sorry for the essay

dunc

its run out of steam lol but no i would clean all idle control valve egr valve etc and see if that helps also connect the earth up haha.

yeh but connect the earth to where exactly?

i have no stray wires, just this circle connector bolted down haha

i think its temperature related myself and one of the sensors has a break in the coil and as it heats up it shrinks and breaks away from itself

its pointing to the crank sensor to me which wont give you any fault codes only the normal no rpm signal :)

no rpm

of course

thats another thing that came up

liam

your a beaut or was it your dad haha

i thought that because the engine had stopped that no rpm meant she was stopped haha but have had this problem before

luckily got a brand new sensor off the silver 1.0l :P

cheers everyone
