Engine Management ongoing problem

***Hi,
Hoping someone can help!?
I have a P reg Corsa B 1.2 Breeze and am having difficulties diagnosing a problem for my engine management light.
Generally the car will not start first time.... the engine management light will appear and the rev needle will not go above 1 and it takes me 5-6 goes turning the key and pumping the accelerator pedal to get her started then the engine light will go off!!
About 5-10 minutes into driving she will start pulling and go sluggish then the engine light will come on, for about the first minute or so from it coming on, when you slow down she will try cutting out and you have to rev her to keep her from cutting out!!.... after about a minute she will stop doing it and she will calm down but the engine management light will stay on untill you turn her off.
I have a friend who is a car mechanic and he has tried plugging three different diagnostic machines into her and they just wont pick her up to diagnose any faults.... think he did an emissions test and she failed so he thought it could be the catalyk converter or O2 sensor so i bought the parts and he replaced them yesterday but she still the same as above!!!
Can anybody help? or has anyone had the same problem?
