Right iv got a 1.2 16v in at the minute with a remap (dont ask i brought it that way! but makes a difference!!!!)

and im looking at fitting the 2.0 8v, iv spoke to a lad who has done one and it took him 6 hours to do!
he said all i need is the engine, ecu and wiring loom and its a straight enough swap just with an extra engine mount and the flywheel needs a few holes drilled and something else needs bodging with a hammer!!!!
But what about the steering? iv got power steering but been told its electric so how would this work?
Has any one done it and is this bloke right in what hes saying?
Just want some guidance on it if anyone has done and how you done it?? :D

you'l need a 2.0 gearbox aswell as the engine, as you might break your small 1.2 gearbox, and with doing that you will need the same conversion shafts as you would find in the 2.0 16v redtop conversion, or 1.6 16v corsa drive shafts. and he's right about the engine mounts, you do only need one engine mount the drivers side engine mount, and you can buy power steering conversion plates so you can keep your hydraulic powersteering rack, otherwise its best to just remove your rack and replace it with a non power steering rack from another corsa.

apart from that theirs only the electrics to join up, but i dont really know much about that part.

Well i thought that with the gear box but he said its something that doesnt need doing but if you want to do some serious racing then i will need to do it as i will be taking it on track, but im lookin for a calibra for a donor car so could i just take the gearbox out of that and use that?
as for the electrics its just plug and play!
how much are the power steering plates roughly?

if your getting the whole car then you'd be very dumb not to swap the gearboxes, and no the electric aernt plug and play i dont think, im sure you have to do some cutting and carving to join them together. and i dont know how much they are, but i know there are some somewhere

lol ill look on ebay then :)
yea the adapter has to be adapted in some way but theres no taking looms out and replacing them
so it is all pretty simple then really as long as i have the doner car sitting there and maybe i might even be able to do it!!!

conversion plate found for £75 but it called a power steering mounting kit. im assuming this is the right one?

http://www.v-tuning.com/Corsa_Kits.htm

spoke to him again and he confirmed that the 8v engine bay loom and ecu fits into sameplace asmy 1.2 ecu and plugs strait in with no wiring mods needed.. all clocks, dials, guages motors etc all work as they should as standard when he done it he said.
