1.4vs1.6

was haveing a chat with my dad n he told me about the 1.4 beign a bit to much of an animal so they restricted the intake. he also said they gave 1.6 a run for there money, is there any truth in this? will a 14. do the 1.6?

pedro you are correct mate, they did restrict the 1.4 and the 1.6's because they were so powerfull, aparently when they first produced these engines they were producing more power than they're main 'big' engine the 2.0 16v, therefore they installed mild'er cams and longer inlets and smaller inlets and outlets on cylinder head, with a fair amount of work removing all that vauxhall did to make it go slower you can turn the 1.4 and 1.6 16v's into some hellish engines 8) the rally boys like using them because they're smaller then the 2.0's and bit lighter but also make HUGE power for the size of the engine with some work.

like a 1.4 16v with a power box and air filter and fully flowing exhaust system from manifold to back box, shouldnt be far of the same power as a standard 1.6 16v. but with cams and ported and polished head and vernier pulleys and throttle boddies and stand alone engine management i can see why you shouldn't be far of 180+ hp
