Post by jamiebowen_123 »

Is it worth me getting my ecu remapped on my corsa 1.4 sport 16v? Will i gain much power?

Hey,

Sorry for the late reply mate.

When a Manufacturer sets up the ECU map they will spend literally millions getting it perfect for the everyday driving style, so there will definitely be room for improvement.

You'll find that the re-map won't provide loads of out-right HP but will improve the over all drivability of the car, making your power and torque curves far smoother. It is very pricey to have it done properly too, mainly because you have to fork out for the extra Dyno time to have it properly set up, unless of course they have a pre-set map - which is something I wouldn't be keen on anyway because every car and engine is different.

Your other option is Piggy-Back ECU's but they are often as useful as a glass hammer so avoid these money pits.

So in short, it's worth it if you want about 5-20 extra HP and you are willing to spend top dollar to have it properly mapped and Dyno's specifically for your car.
