just had my car on the dyno today and its running a hell of a lot less than i thourght, i dont understand what the problem could be
its a 1.6 16v engine with, mantzel inlet manifold, 4-2-1 stainless steel manifold and downpipe, induction kit
i was expecting it to be around 120-130 bhp, but it was just over 100
thing ive noticed is it takes about a second to respond when i plant the throttle and revs sluggishly and sounds like its miss firing
i was thinking the coil pack could be on its way out and some new spark plugs and ht leads are needed
not quite sure at all though :-/

Sounds like my issue mate. Changed plugs for around £15 including tool to get them out. Coil pack is around £37 online. However my misfire went by just taking of the coil pack and shaking /blowing the poo out of it and putting it back! I only changed the plugs because I've only just bought it. Seemed like a simple job to get out of the way and piece of mind. This whole job took me 20 minutes and I aint no mechanic! I only put the coil pack back on to go the spares shop for a plug spanner. Misfire had already gone before I got chance to do the plugs.

Good luck. Be careful easing the coil pack off though and try to keep it aligned and straight. I think proper Vauxhall mechanics use threaded bolts to lift it off. Us normal guys have to be gentle with a big flat blade screwdriver and bare hands. If your rough you can damage the plugs according to the haynes bible.

changed them, still sluggish, started spitting oil so i think the valve stem seals have gone, will that cause a loss of power ?

crank shaft sensor? and valve stem seals easiest way to find out is it theres blue smoke coming from exhaust, have you got a performance back box/centre on? if youve just got standard back box then time the exhaust gases hit it itll slow the gases down.( bigger the pipe the faster/easier it is for the gases to flow so if its larger then to smaller itl slow it down).

i think all the wires for the mantzel manifold are f**k up, n i have no idea how there all suppost to go either, it has a cat and mid box still with a aftermarket backbox

i got all the same bits on my 1.4 16v engine too and it also takes time for throttle to respond on mine and as for the wires, if they were wrong the eml would be on and it would stall engine when u put foot down, cause i got wiring wrong when i first put mantzel box on.

well to start it i have to blip the throttle, n when i press the pedal down slightly the revs drop right down to basically nothing and it tries to stall, inbetween its alrite but when u plant the accelerator it does nothing

found out what the problem is, apparently your only suppost to take the SAI pump off to assist your car when its been decatted, in which mine hasnt
ive been told its chucking in way too much fuel with not enough air, its also suppost to assist the engine when you start it, which explains why i have to blip the throttle everytime i start it
dont understand why he taken that off when i been told he was taking the egr off but oh well, just have to hope he still has it lying about in his garage tomorrow :-/
