Gearbox being a little wierd

Post by DoDaniel »

I am not very good with this sort of stuff and can only go as far as working on the electrics on my car. Yesterday evening when backing the car onto my drive I went to put it into reverse and I heard a grinding noise (Sort of noise that it would make if it is not in gear properly). So I checked to floor space and removed the mat to make sure there was nothing in the way and pushed the clutch pedal down as far as I could go but was still making the same noise.
Another note: the grinding noise only occurred when putting it in gear but when in gear it made no noise what so ever.

Could the clutch cable possibly need re-greasing or something as the clutch pedal has become a little sticky lately.

Many thanks to whoever can help me with this problem.

your clutch pedal might need raising slightly, this can be done by winding the nut up on the gearbox end of the clutch cable, if you see it you'l see what i mean, as it mainly grinds into reverse if your still rolling or something, or just changing into reverse to fast, but i'd try lifting your clutch pedal first by shorting the cable.

Thanks for the help. I tired changing into reverse again today and got no noise. May have just been a one of or something, will be keeping an eye on though. Hopefully it doesn't do it again.
