put your mum as second driver, that brings it down a bit, and use the insurance compare websites on here they're usually quite good, but the thing is ANY insurance these days is going to be expensive no matter what you do.

Try having your mom as a name driver not the main.
But your going to have to stick it out or get a better car that's not such a "risk" that what I did after my corsa.

Hi there, I'm mum to a very eager (only 8 days off) 18yr old.
He just bought he's own car the one I have listed under my profile (1.2 SXI 16V), he had the same problem with insurance and most places were coming back £6k and upwards.
The only way round this was to have a box fitted to the car which monitors your driving, we managed to get he's insurance down to £2.5k with 3 more named drivers. 2 more experienced and myself, only having my license for 1 yr more than my son.
So my advice would be check the insurance companies who fit box's, but first of all try co-op insurance. This is who my son will be with as soon as he's old enough for them to accept him for the monthly DD's.
And put the maximum amount of named drivers as you can, as we managed to drop the price of he's quote by £20 month in doing this.
Good luck

im in the same situation as you 19 past my test 1 year ago just got my first car, a corsa b 1.0 sting and its going to cost me 2.500 quid to insure it. the compare websites where no good for me i found it best just to go direct and put up with having to keep on putting you details in. cheapest place for me was Liverpool Victoria.
best of luck and just keep on tying.

Passed my test at 18, one week later bought the same car, cost me £4000 to insure for first year with ASDA, but should drop to just over £1000 next year if I don't crash it!
It's stupid, but it's just the way it is... Try changing your listed profession to another applicable title, worked for me?

When I passed my test I bought a 1.0L corsa b and it cost me £2500 (first central) for my first year, second year cost me £1200(LV) and quotes for this year are around £700-£800(not decided yet) (that's with 2 years no claims) with the same car... Just try tweaking things like is it on a drive or the road/garage and what job you do (keep it legit but different types). All goes down on how old you are and where you live... For us young drivers it's poo! (I'm 19 btw)

If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

Are you all putting down about being lowered etc? Or just hoping to not crash?
