I have a 1995 1.4 sport C14SE engine and it suffers from lurching or erratic running from time to time but not consistantly, some days I drive it and it lurches and judders like its running out of fuel or the ignition is cutting in and out, (bit like kangarooing with a duff clutch control or like you driving off with no choke on a cold engine but its when warm as well so not that), drive back home and its fine all the way at 70mph (120kph)
I have replaced the idle control valve and that sorted the tickover out a treat. throttle position sensor, no different, new plugs and OEM leads, no change, check all plug connections to ICV, Throttle sensor, etc, timing belt and tensioner kit, even water pump, thermostat and raer hose, no change. ???? Any ideas
Peter

has the engine management light come on atall?
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts
Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Re: erratic running 1995 1.4 sport
Engine managment light on a '95 C14SE? Haven't seen any lights coming on at all when it's running, been OK the last few days including a blast up to 95 mph, seemed to love it but I had better not bust it as it's the wife's daily drive
At at the moment bit busy as my Mercedes A170cdi is having the autobox repaired for the third time (at the garage's expense though as they left the thrust washer off of the clutch thrust during the last repair and it failed big time 5 weeks later), my '87 BMW 320i is in bits for a head replacement after a rocker bust and I am waiting for the courior to bring the re-con head, my '87 Mercedes Cosworth has an ECU in the post and my Eagle SS VW kit car is still a project in progress also '99 Suzuki An400 engine being rebuilt after a blow up (again), so dispite owning 5 cars and a scooter I am still hiring a car, dough!
The Corsa has been very reliable but I would like to improve on the economy at motorway speeds if possible and find out what this lurching is before it busts an engine mounting of the thing packs up when 'er in doors in driving it as I will never hear the end of it. Hence she has the Fiat Punto hire car (Very nice) and I have the Corsa for a bit.

Re: erratic running 1995 1.4 sport
Still got the lurching problem, feels like it's cutting out but also feels like running a cold engine withoput the choke. By the week end I should hae from Vaux world a new Ht bolck and crank sensoe r and a temp sensor, so apart from the Vac mapping sensor thats all new. I hope it cures it. I have checked and 1995 don't have engine managment, just an uncoded ECU for the injection system, Drove it 10 miles with it being a pig but driving home 100% sweet, weird! Working o the theory that something mechanical is out of the question as they tend to be consistant as do blockages and breakages I feel it must be elecrical.

Re: erratic running 1995 1.4 sport
Latest: Changed the crank sensor, air flow sensor, idle control valve, throttle position sensor, HT leads and plugs. Filters, all no change. Tried to change the Coil pack but a new one from Vaux-world was DOA, so not able to see if that was the problem. Did find spomething funny, as in strange, on test, lurching about almost to the point of damage to engine mountings and then I turned off the ignition for a second whilst still wizzing along and when I turned it on again it was a lot better, almost OK. weird!
Good news, Cossie ECU got it running, just needs rings now, A170 is being fixed and BMW E30 has a new head and is great.

Sorted, three pin plug to throttle position sensor, loose it! Connect from loom straight to sensor plug, no more problems

And it only took 2 years
Get a project up mate

If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway
