the pipe above has a split underneath and slightly affecting the performance from time2time basically i was wondering can anyone tell what the orange circle sensor is for and isit needed for the car to run properly, the red circle is the MAF. if it is needed what does that air pipe come from or can i convert over to the c20xe samco pipe and not use the orange sensor ? my c20xe is the coilpack, also would that sensor wire be part of the car loom?

It's the Air Temperature Sensor, it's one of the Secondary Inputs for the ECU and it can run without it but I would advise against it, you can end up having an awful lot of hassle with those ECU codes so I'd make sure it's connected properly and is perfectly clean. If the piping around it has split then replace it or you'll start sucking in too much air - which will then send the ECU into a frenzy again.

Do you have a MAF Sensor? Are the wires stretched at all? A friend of mine owns a Corolla T-Sport and it has an aftermarket induction kit fitted - the kit stretches the wires and they snap and make dodgy connections.

yes i have a MAF Sensor, ill look as i think i mite have stretched the 'Air Temperature Sensor' wiring. thanks
its wierd as i just went in it and to the destination ran smooth but on the way back it ran lumpy now and then and backfired.
