corsa 1.2 sxi maf sensor

My 1998 1.2 sxi had a dodgy maf sensor well thats what i thought. When i bought it the EML light came on around 3,000 revs and it was like a limiter i was hitting so i decided to remove the wires connecting it and it worked PERFECT except i had the EML light on at all times. So i bought a new maf sensor fitted it about 20 minutes ago started the car and the EML was on for a few seconds then went off and the revs died right down then came back up to around 900 which is normal so i thought the ecu was just clearing its self so i took it out a spin and it seemed fine until i put the foot down alittle and when i changed gear and put the foot down it would like flood its self then the power would kick in. 9/10 times i change gear or put the foot down it bogs out. What could be my problem
