Orange 'S' light flashing

Hi guys! Can anyone help me with this problem please? While driving my '94 Corsa 1.4 automatic at about 60mph, the engine started revving higher than normal, as if I was in 3rd gear and it felt like the gearbox was slipping. I noticed that the orange 'S' light was flashing. I slowed down and crept to the nearest services. Checked the gearbox fluid level which seemed fuller than it should be. When I restarted, the light was no longer flashing. I drove off and all was normal until I reached 50mph and the problem returned. The 'S' button on the gear-lever was deselected on each occasion.
