So, i was driving about the otherday and i realised how annoyed i was at the engine i've currently got
It was then that i decided i wanted more power and decided why not go for the top?

I'm just looking for info on a redtop like what i'd need to change on my current T reg corsa b.

Such as would i need to strengthen the chassis and what brake upgrades would you reccomend.

Any info is much appreciated.

Also, what is the price range of a redtop and gearbox?

The XE Corsa conversion is a well-trodden path, so there is a solution for everything with this conversion now.

A lot of items, such as engine mounts are available off the shelf from places like Chris Astley Motorsport.

You will also need lowering blocks for the front anti-roll bar to stop it hitting the exhaust and you will also need to modify the gear linkage.

If you are going with springs, the rating of the fronts will need to be 300lbs, and of course, the brakes will need to be upgraded.

I have read that with an XE, you dont need to strengthen the shell on a Corsa, could be good measure to do so around suspension mounting points.

The only thing is that the XE is now very long in the tooth and many will have been rebuilt several times by now. The standard of the rebuilds can vary greatly. Non Coscast cylinder heads can turn porus.

Remember that there are lots of other options for an engine conversion, although a healthy XE is meant to be the best and most tuneable. I quite fancy an X20XEV engine for my Corsa. Got this engine in my Vectra and its still quite pokey even in that big car. Its also newer and likely to be lower mileage, however these engines have quite a lot more sensors on them that can give problems, They also have 14bhp less than a standard XE.

Hope this helps!
