Hello everyone rite i recently purchased my 1998 corsa 8v merit about 2 month ago now and its ran fine up til just recently. What the problem is, is when you set off in first gear it loses power as if revs have died then comes back to life and shoots off. It also does this when you change up a gear but it makes the car very jerky .Also sometimes when stationary at traffic lights the revs will flicker as if its bout to stall but then its fine????

Been looking into it and most 3 common syptoms are either the idle control valve- the lambda sensor- or the crankshaft position sensor now im no expert on these cars my first corsa ever after saxos-clios-axs etc etc lol

Any help would be much appreciated thanks

P.s also the car has had a complete exhaust system cat included and a new timing belt kit if that helps?????

is the eml light on?
if so you can do your own digonostic test on the 8v corsa,
and that will take you to the right sensor,
it sounds like a sensor or s dodge plug or lead,

it still returns about 120 mile to 20 quids worth of fuel but cudnt really hurt to change water temp sensor for sake of a fiver lol. It does only seem to run lumpy when car is up to temperature??? When its cold like on drive to work in a morning its not jerky or sluggish. Cheers for the help lets hope this cheap fix works lol. Il keep you posted. Btw i know this is a bit off topic but how do you go about getting onto the corsa b stand at pvs next year???? Just im in the process of modifying my 8v and would really like to go n show it off next year lol thanks
