Modified throttle body?

We have an ongoing problem with intermittent hesitation on a 2000 1.2 GLS.
Today, a mechanic friend of my son says he thinks it is due to the throttle body and harness as he believes there was a modification introduced by Vauxhall to fix our problem.

Is this right?

I've changed the air mass meter and all the sensors trying to sort the problem. Only things left I can think of are ECU problem(?), throttle(?), fuel pump(?).
