Replaced MAF but EML still appears

I recently replaced the MAF sensor on my car due to it causing problems such as no power and trying to accelerate but feels like your braking. Took the car for a test drive round the town but the EML still kept coming on, however nothing happened during the multiple times it came on. Is this normal? The car seems to run fine, when the EML came on I gave it some power and was still working normally.

Please can someone give me some advice on this as I using make long motorway journeys and don't want the EML to some on again and this time something actually happens.

Thanks

what engine you got?

sounds like a EGR valve to me

The engine in my car is a 1.2 16v so X12XE. The car runs fine for a while now and then suddenly, the EML comes on only for a few seconds and then disappears. Some times it would only disappear if I put my foot down on the clutch.

When the car is driven slowly it works fine, but as soon as I need to put a lot of power on it comes up with the EMl but no loss of power. This is really starting to annoy me as I do long distance journeys quite often and haven't been able to use the car.

I really hope it's not the EGR valve as they cost quite a bit to replace.
