hi on tuesday im going to look at a corsa b advertised for £700
im swapping it for my road legal quad
he says it has 165bhp and it has the 2.0ltr 8v engine from a calibra with an f20 gear box and 2.0ltr brakes with a powerflow exhaust and k&n air filter
iv got no idea what an f20 gear box is or what to expect performance wise from the 2.0ltr,he says they come with 150bhp standard
looks lowered and got black alloys
the body and paint work is abit tatty but it would be a winter project anyways,i dont mind cosmetic things i just dont know my way around an engine too well

just wondering what to look for when i look at the corsa
thanks for any help

Sounds cheap for a redtop! If the cars mechanically sound it sounds like a great deal!

If the rocker cover has red on it it's a redtop in my eyes :L

But yeah they did do a 2.0L 8v redtop, whether it's a redtop or not remains to be seen

The engine's themselves are pretty much indestructable

My friend bought a write off that was rolled in a crash

Took the sump plug off, drained the oil, poured water in the oil filler cap, threw in some screws for good measure and put a brick on the accelerator.

Guess what?

It ran out of fuel after 15 mins. Indestructable i say!

2.0 8v dont come with 150bhp standard! there's a 115bhp and 130bhp standard version of the 2.0 8v... the 2.0 16v comes with 150bhp standard

just as jamie says..... its a 8v not a redtop.... £700 is quiet cheap as long as it has been done to a good standard and its not goin blow up or fall out... 8v are easy wen it comes to work on them as i have found out.....

he has no chance of gettin for a 'few' extra

more likely £2200 extra for a good one ;)
