Corsa B, V reg, X10XE. My engine management light came on with P0505 idle valve high / low. Tried replacing idle control valve and throttle position sensor - no luck. Tried new throttle body and gave everything a good clean - no luck. As far as I can tell all there are no air leaks.
Engine idle is high when stationary and appears to "hunt". To get round it I set the idle valve manually with a battery and pulled the plug and it is okay(ish) to drive. Obviously this is a bodge which I want to fix.
If the idle valve pintle is set to full in and then plugged in and I turn the key then the pintle moves fully out and the revs are high. It is almost as if the ECU cannot detect how far the pintle has moved out and I suspect an electrical fault.
If I put the rear demister on when it is revving at stationary then the revs drop dramatically and it is a lot easier to drive which again points to an electrical fault.
Does anyone have any ideas how I could diagnose this / what it could possibly be?
Thanks in advance.
