98 1.0 12v Radiator Fan Issue

Post by furkick »

Hello
My car is a naf 1.0 12v X10XE engine 1998 Reg

Right yesterday i was driving in bumper to bumper traffic for around 30 mins and my cars temp reading was pretty much off the red mark 105+ :( steam came from the engine. So i pulled over and let it cool. Anyway this nearly happened before, i used to have a 1.2 8v corsa and the fan would cut in around 97, yet with this one the cooling fan has never come on.

Any ideas what i can do to fix this problem, also to add the hot blowers inside the car work, so im guessing not a rad fault.

Many Thanks Chris

Try replacing your radiator fan switch, located right on the side of the radiator. It should have a plug coming out and going off to the ECU. If not then try taking the fan out of the car, try and connect two cables to your battery (red + and negative -) and then use the other end of them to activate the fan, if the fan is ok, it should spin, if not then the fan is gone.

Hope this helps.

Also, heres the rad fan switch i'm on about http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Vauxh ... 5ce&000529
