faultcode p1405 help

HI Ive got faultcode p1405 egr valve on a 1.2 1999.A new one is £85 is there anything else it could be before i buy one.The car struggles to rev up clean without spluttering its down on power it does drive but very badley could it be the airflow meter even though there is no code for this.Oh yes ive bought a blanking plate for the egr but is still the same.Thanks for any help

there is sensors to check whether it is working or not, so your best option would be to try clean the valve you have first with some kind or solvent, i have found that easy start works quite well, or thinners, and try to clean the pipes in the manifold where it connects, try no to put any thinners down into the exhaust though as it isnt good for the cat, but easy start is fine.

My 12xe was the same I got my air flow meter changed and it runs perfect now.

EGR tends to get flaged alot in fault codes as i beleive alot of parts and sensors have a knock on effect so it tends to get the blame as such.
i had a similar issue if you read over my project log. I get it checked and was told it was EGR, i cleaned it, tried a blank plate and tried 2 other EGR. then gave up and left it into a mechanic. in the end i should trusted my gut cause i coulda saved a small fortune. it was my Air flow meter filiment had burned out and i also needed a new Idle controll unit as mine was dying.
