BIGGER INDUCTION KIT OR UPGRADED PANEL FILTER?????

Hi guys. i was wondering if you could help me. A couple of years ago i bought a 57i induction kit for my corsa b 1.2 16v.
Last beginning of 2011 i took it off as i noticed i was suffering from a flat spot and the engine was getting far too much heat, i later found out that the induction kits burn out the airflow meter out. so from then til now i have been running with standard airbox with restrictions took out with a standard gm panel filter.
One of my mates told me a bigger induction kit should work, but i want a upgraded panel filter. I need more air and i need advice on what to go for.
Me and all of my friends have tweaked my car therefore making some impressive results, amazing what you can do when you know what to do, not spending much money
Any help will be much appreciated, Thanks Jamie.

Mate i wouldnt bother with cone filters or inductions kits i would much rather buy a panel filter from K&N and drop it in box..
Car companies dont spend millions of pounds designing cars and engines for us to buy a cone filter re direct air flow and suck in hot air and make it run better.. The best flow is what its got as standard so i would drop panel filter..
Just a thought really bud

im getting rid of my cone filter and getting a k&n panel filter for the same reason. after a few months it just doesnt feel as quick as it used to.

Its what we call the placebo affect, you believe its going to make it quicker there for it is. K&n panel filters ftw everytime for me.

Also engines that have sencers to control air flow wont be affected much(if any) by k&n panels because the sencer should notice more air to make it run leaner and quicker and will then corect itself any way to prevent damage.
Unless the sencer increases fuel instead of decreasing airflow then this will make a difference lol.. Hope that makes sence.
Not sure how true it is though but in theory should be right.

always go for an uprated panel filter, no matter what cone you get unless you put it inside a housing you increase the heat of the air going into the engine, and this actually DECREASES the amount of air going into the engine regardless of how "free-er" reving it may feel, panel filters also are better for the engine as they have a finer mesh in to filter out the crap, whereas cone filters only increase flow by reducing the effectiveness of the filter.
in short cone filters are plain and simply bad for your engine.
on of the best ways to increase flow is to get an airbox from a vehicle with a bigger engine and fit it to your vehicle, such as from a 1.6 or 1.4, or depending how extreme your mods are maybe from a 1.8 astra, although i doubt a 1.2 would need that much air
just for the record i have a 1.4 16v, by no means a monster, but it moves

Upgraded panel filter it is then. Is it possible, stupid question this maybe. Can I convert the intake from a 1.4 or 1.6 to mine? Would it make a difference if somehow it was possible. And I get accused of having a bigger engine in my 1.2 which can get annoying at times =/ mostly happens when im stuck up arse end of vtrs and zetec s, havent a clue what bhp ive got, would like to know though for fun. Cant wait til trax this year im more of a corner person tbh. But yeah I need more air to go with the increase of fuel pressure I have etc. Thanks for your help guys.

i believe that it's actually really simple to put one straight on, from my time playing with corsa's i have only really come accross two types of airbox, as some of them have a vacuum controlled valve for a warm air intake and others dont, beyond that i think they are pretty much the same box, not so sure of the filters, personally if you are worried about it i would just got get an airbox from something like a 1.8 mk3 astra and modify that

the intake might be bigger on a 1.6 that a 1.2 or 1.4. go with an astra one if it works

Problem im having is upon increasing fuel.pressure I have made a rookie mistake by not improving aur flow therefore resulting in a bad mixture of fuel/air. Yes it does make a difference on any car running more fuel before anyone says no point doing this to that bla bla bla. So question is how can I positively increase air flow. What can I do what can I fit. Induction kit definately a no no.

i got my upgraded panel filter and it does make a difference, same noise increase and a cone filter and better MPG. ive only got a small engine in my corsa so a 1.4 or more would have a good improvement

when i first had my car i chucked an induction kit on it and i think it basically destroyed my MAF, since then i chucked the old box on, de-restricted and drilled it and has been running like a demon since lol, i think thats the way forward
also i got a 1.2 mate so just wondering what cheap mods did you do to increase some bhp??
any small increase would be greatly appreciated
