Hi my car seems to keep over heating and drinking water when ever im doing 50mph or more for a long period of time, i.e motorway driving or duel carriageways, my heater matrix blew a few months back so got it fixed but the over heating only really happened once it was fixed, then i noticed my thermostatic switch had gone, but not put a new one in yet just running a temp live straight from battery, could that be the problem ( although ive been told its not).

Any help on this would be excellent, Thanks

Could be a sticking thermostat or possible head gasket failure.
