hi all, i have just purchased a 1994 L corsa combo van 1.4 spi.
i got it of a mate who had parked it up since 2008 and left it to go mouldy!
i got it running and blew tyres up and then took it straight for MOT
apart from wiper blades and drivers door handle sticking up it only failed on the brakes!
now the rear brakes sticking i sorted by removing them and cleaning/wd40 and adjusting them there fine now,
handbrake wasnt working so again wd40 adjusted cable now sweet!
my problem is front brakes...... the pedal was rock hard next to no brakes i took front wheels of and the calipers were heavily corroded.
i couldnt even get them off. but when i did i cleaned the grooves were pads sit with a screw driver and wire brush then copper slipped em, pads are near new.
so just cleaned the edges n greased them to! put it all back together and the pedal had softened a little. however i took it a drive n the pedal is worse!!! still hard and now no brakes? any clues to what it is? a mate said the calipers culd be stuffed so has offered me some calibra brakes but i need to no its not sumat else before i start upgrading em.

Re: corsa combo brakes faulty HELP!!!
Could u push the piston back on the calliper?
If that's all free it may be the brake servo that is not
Working.

corsa combo brakes faulty HELP!!!
I would try pushing them back first as that may be the problem if you can't then the calipers need replacing. But if it is the servo it will just need replacing with another.

Re: corsa combo brakes faulty HELP!!!
I'd say the calipers are just seized, but I'd say get a set of 2.0 brakes if you've been offered a set but they won't fit standard steel wheels, to check servo put foot down on brakes and start the car, the pedal should drop a little

I agree with pricer, the calipers could just be seized. Try pushing the piston back and see if it moves!
To check servo pump the pedal till it goes solid then push the pedal down and turn on the ignition, if the pedal goes down your servo is sound. If the pedal doesn't go hard try new brake fluid...if its been stood for 3 years plus then your better changing it!

Re: corsa combo brakes faulty HELP!!!
thanks all for response, i have got the calibra brakes calipers discs and pads, gna pick the van up later and test servo/ calipers.
ive got the van on 14" steels of an astra g/mk4 so once its MOT'd up i can just slap the 2.0 brakes on it.
this will be a work vehicle/project so any ideas greatly recieved
ive already had the "slam it on its sills and matt black", and the "nato green with 4x4 tyres and a suspension lift" ?!?! my mates got a gsi front bumper on way for me next time hes down from inverness jus incase i can make use of it, and i believe some cali black leather would look nice. but i will consider any ideas
you guys have (no bodykits etc look sh*te)
cheers
