Danny's 95 SRi

As a massive fan of the Corsa B and owning 3 in the past, I was bored and wanted another one. I kept searching ebay, autotrader etc and finally found a 95 SRi just down the road from me. It had no tax or M.O.T and looked a little shabby but my girlfriend said she would buy it me as an early bday present if I could get it at the right price. So we went to have a look at it and managed to come away with it for just £100 :D

Here's a few pics of it before any work commenced

Image

The engine bay wasnt much better...

Image

Neither was the inside...

Image

Image

The boot was hurrendous...It was left full of rubbish etc and a heater matrix as the one on the car was FUBAR...the one in the boot is the wrong one haha

Image

Under the rubbish was bad, the carpet was full of oil and tar...

Image

And there's why the carpet was wrecked

Image

As you can tell from the pics, the car wasnt in the best of conditions, theres a few rust patches scattered around the shell, the paint was bubbling in places due to rust. It needed new brakes all round, and some welding on the O/S sill for the M.O.T...

The plans at the time were to restore it as an SRi or to get a GSi kit, lower it, some nice wheels etc etc...First things first though, the car needed a clean and the boot sorting to see exactly what the body work needed

So I got to work on the boot and threw out the rubbish, binned the crappy carpet, scraped out the tar then out came the hammer and chisel to remove the hard stuff before getting the rest with the heat gun and scraper....

Image

I did the brakes and put on some new wheels and I gave it a good clean

Image

I fit some lexus rear lights and a new exhaust aswel

Image

While the car was jacked up I noticed it needed some more welding on the chassis rail so I asked my tutor if I could do it at college on a ramp...I took it in and did the welding, I also got some under body seal on...but since it still wasnt M.O.T'd I needed towing home, my dad couldnt get me so I had to leave the car at college for a couple of days...I went back on the friday to get it but the car wouldnt start...after lot's of head scratching I found out my chip had been removed from my key by some t*$$*# so I couldnt disarm my immobiliser, so the car was to stay at college for a littlewhile longer while I did more work and got the code from Vauxhall...

Vauxhall got back in touch, they had the pass there, so I collected it and towed my car to another garage who could code it for me, but after an hour of trying and it failing the guy told me the code on the pass didnt match the ECU so the only thing he could think was the ECU had been changed at some point, so with no way of coding the car and getting it started I was on the hunt for an ECU, transponder and reciever. Vauxhall wanted £300 for the ECU which I couldnt afford...the car was sat on the drive for months until I finally got my hands on everything for just £11 off eBay :D put everything on the car and it fired up straight away so I decided it was time to crack on...

Since it had been sat outside for so long the rust on the bodywork had got worse and the sills had started to get weak with a couple of small holes forming...I cut the sills out and set to work welding them (still not finished so no pics) I was so sick of the bodywork looking how it did that I decided to strip everything inside and out and prep it ready for a full respray (by this time I had my own unit and my own garage)

I started off flatting off the stone chips and small defects in the paintwork

I stripped out the inner arches and made a start at prepping and primering them

While I was in the mood and had the spare stuff lying around I started making a bad boy bonnet with a spare I took off an old corsa I broke (add pics at a later date)

My girlfriend has a 106 Quicksilver and she wanted a new sound system fitting, but she didnt want to pay stupid money the shops were asking so muggins here had to make some boxes and cover them...(can add more images of these later if anyone wants?)

Image

The finished look in the boot is mint and the sound from it is awesome...we have it on volume 1 and it is just as loud if not louder than my mates set up on volume 10 lol

The lights have gone, they're up for sale, standards are going back on, the wheels where sold a while back, Im looking for some standard SRi wheels for this one me thinks, or some cav slabs or something like that lol

Back to the Corsa and I got out the trusty orbital sander and got to work on the paint hehe...

Image

Then out came the spray gun and primer and the spraying commenced

One coat of primer...

Image

This was a fter a couple of coats of primer...

Image

Again from the back...

Image

Things have come to a halt since on the car due to getting a puppy and getting our own house (needed fully renovating) but the plan is to try and finish the welding and primer the rest of the car over easter. Maybe drop the engine and strip it down, change the gaskets, belts, reseat the valves etc etc...

Here's the puppy :D

and another

I have been after a GSi bumper for a while, I have the arches skirts and the N/S L trim, I cant get a bumper or the O/S L trim so I decided to get a facelift/post 97 bumper...the cheapest I have seen one is £49 and the girlfriend won't let me buy it as the £50 would buy summat new for the house lol...anywho the other night I was on eBay and got myself one anyway...for just £5.50 haha

Image

Not bad for a fiver...gunna get it prepped and primered over easter when I primer the N/S of the car

I will upload more pics of the bonnets (you can see the 3 of them in one of the pics of the car being primered) and of the sub boxes when I get them off the other phone and I will keep updating this everytime I do summat :)

I am looking for dimensions to a powerbox if anyone knows them so I can build one myself :) still on the hunt for a GSi bumper and L trim...thinking of keeping this one as a standard SRi and getting another cheap corsa as a run around to mod...then I have the bst of both :D

Sadly Im having to break my car :-( I cut off the sills to weld on new ones and came across loads of rust holes and rot...it basically needs new inner n outer sills both rear inner wheel arches n a boot floor aswel as floor pans so its not worth it. All parts are available just give us a shout
