Poor idle & Hunting

Post by kenmac »

My next door neighbour has bought her daughter a 1998 Corsa B 1.0 12v but has a bad hunting & idle problem plus some times when driving it misses & the EML comes on but if you floor it stops the running rough & the light goes out plus if you put the electrical system under load ie: fan on full speed, heated rear screen etc while on idle it levels out & idles perfect, any clues?

Cheers

A bit of progress, changed the TPS & it seems to have sorted 90% of the problems but it still loses power & splutters when sitting at a constant speed around 40/50 & the EML comes on plus if when it's driving OK & you push the throttle to the floor it has a really big flat spot, any clues?

Hi,
Newbie here!
I have a Corsa B 1999 1.2 16v, and the engine is hunting when the revs reaches between 1500 and 3000 revs. It does idle quite sweeetly at 1000 rpm, and seems to rev okay past 3000...

I took it to a garage and they put a vauxhall tester on it and seemed to suggest it was the ICV.... but as this is not moving whilst it is hunting... I can not see it.

I have now replaced the following items(albetit from a breakers), and the symptoms are exactly the same..... MAF, TPS, and ICV..... I did disconnect the battery for more than 12 hours aswell.

The only other thing I can think of is the ECU ?????

I appreciate that the parts from the breakers could actually be faaulty, but I would not have expected the symptoms to be exactly the same.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Just be carefull when cleaning, try reading up on it a bit first.
when i tried to open up my ICV for cleaning i think i just made it worse and had to be replaced.
