Overheating problem

Ok I've got a 1.4 8v and seam to be having a slight problem with it over heating.

It will sit at 92-94 while moving but once I stop in traffic or heaven forbid traffic jams it's shoots through the roof, I do have to point out I've never let it get so high that the fan kicks in as I generally turn the internal heating on full wak an vent it out the windows to draw the heat away.
I've been told it could be a head gasket problem but it had both that an radiator replaced not so long ago,
My only other line of thinking is its either a air blockage somewhere or the thermostat is screwed.

Any ideas???

mine gets really really hot in traffic, even when its cold outside, once it gets to just over half way the fan will kick in and the temp will go down :) if it goes over half way i wouldnt worry, the fan should do its job :)

I'm getting the thermostat changed on Saturday morning by a m8 who's also replacing my exhaust centre section due to a stupidly high speed bump and kerb. So all been well that should sort it all out, I'm also going to wire a override switch for the fan so if it get too hot I can just click it on an cool her down before the fan even needs to come on.
