Hi again every1. i know this is in the wrong section but i could do wiith a quick answer as i might need to bid on something on ebay.
Right my girlfriends got an aftermarket jvc cd player that is 4x50w output. now obviously i know that is max power not rms - no idea what that is but i imagine around 30-35w. Now its been hooked up 2 some 40w rms 5.25 speakers and it sounded okay but has started to get really distorted recently. now for her new car she wants to upgrade to 6.5 speakers but as her head unit only has one pre-out for her sub she can't amp the speakers. I have seen these speakers below on ebay but as they are 80w RMS will they sound okay on the head unit power alone and will it cause damage to either product?

quite simply, if she dont get a new head unit is there no point buying higher powered and more expensive speakers?
thanks in advance for all your help
i know its an ICE question but I could do with a quick reply

U can still amp the speakers u just need to get a splitter for the RCA wire or there may be a output on the amp for the sub.

You can buy a splitter so u can connect more amps. This is what u would need http://bit.ly/yHKrWl I have a splitter on mine. U would plug these in to ur cd player and then 2 sets of rca's one to the sub and one to the amp for the speakers.

thanks for the advice - ive researched into it and decided that wud be the best way but just can't afford an amp atm. Managed to get an awesome ebay deal on sum fusion reactor 6.5" componants - only 20 quid second hand so im gona see how the sound just running off the headunit amp and judge if a separate amp would be needed. Cheers for the advice
