Hi guys been offered a 1.6 8v engine, loom, ecu and immobiliser for £130 which is cheap imo, can I use my original 1.2 gearbox, starter, alternator and exhaust? Thanks

Surely youd loose top end from a 1.2 box, brilliant pull off though I'd thought.

i have the same engine x12sz (8v) and i have c20ne(8v) to fit inside!!
you also need gearbox, wiring, exhaust, brakes only front 256 and at least 14 inch alloys. and don't forget suspension!!!very important!!!

Do I definitely 110% HAVE to get the gearbox? I'm doing this on a budget so trying to keep costs down. Top end won't bother me for the moment, I can swap it out later when I have more cash, the 0-60 will be fun.
My current conversion list is:
Engine (1.6 8v from a Mk3 disastra)
Loom
ECU + Immob
Inlet
Coil
I wanted to check if I can keep my exhaust, starter/alternator and gearbox to keep initial costs down though?

Probably talking poo again but wouldn't the exhaust be different bore size to cope with the gasses other wise it would choke itself. Or would that only mater on larger engines?

I did think this, I also thought the injector would be bigger on a 1.6 hence needing a 1.6 inlet. I do have a 4-1 to go on but it needs fabricating work first as it's been cut off a nova and doesnt have a lambda sensor either!

Do I need it? Wouldn't think the 1.6 flows much more than the 1.2?

yes you need it!!!
When the vehicle has one of the following engine codes the fuelsystem does not need to be changed:
C16XE
X16XE
X14XE

Your old box will fit there both f13 on the 1.2 and the 1.6, starter motor is the same there are a few different water pipes from inlet to matrix and the plastic exchange pipe at the rear also on the 1.6 has a small off take pipe probs 8mm-10mm for the anti ice on the throttle body, wiring is plug and play, exhaust is different your 1.2 will fit but will choke the engine as they have as standard a cast 4-2-1 manifold and you need the pump from any 16v or mulitpoint ingection engine e.g: 1.2 16v, 1.4 8v (multipoint), 1.4 16v, 1.6 8v (multipoint) , 1.6 16v, 1.8 16v, do not use anything over a 2.0 as the delivery pressure is slightly higher and will over fuel, brakes any thing over a 1.6 16v not dear plenty in scrap yards
