im gonna put some 40mm springs on my corsa do i have to change the rear shocks straight away ?

Nope not straight away but you will eventually need either new ones or updated ones! :)

Not a clue :P if going 60mm then shortened :)

you'l need shortened and stiffened shocks not just newer standard ones, BUT for just a 40mm drop you can still use standard shocks but it will be bouncy.
