1L Won't Start Today! Advice?
I have a 98 1Litre with 130000 miles, Its rough but I want to keep it running. It wouldnt idle whilst warm and think it was over heating as the coolant stink but now it dosent start at all. I drove it a lot yesterday through some serious floods but it seemed to be ticking over fine no problems however when I parked it up I noticed smoke coming from the bonnet. Today when the engine is cold it won't start. I put in new spark plugs, oil, air filter tried disconnecting the air flow meter and cleaned up the throttle plate which was filthy. I have a good battery. I'm new to these 3 cylinder engines, is there no distributor cap? Also I'm thinking it could be that the injectors are blocked? I have the engine light on the dash, any suggestions

No they use a dis less set up for ignition so no dizzy cap...
Anyways,
Is it turning over but not firing? It could be any number of things from the fuel pump to the injectors really, best having it on a diagnostic machine see if it gives any faults and start from there.
Could try push starting it see if it will star that way.
Not sure Why but I had a faulty crank sensor and sometimes it would refuse to start, unless I push started it would fire everytime
