hi i have recently converted my corsa putting in the earlier 1.6 gsi engine(none ecotec) and having loads of problems. 1: the wiring loom dosent have a map sensor(manifold absolute pressure sensor) plug would this cause any problems?
2: should i have upgraded the fuel pump?
3: the headgasket was blown up which i never knew so had the head skimmed and a new gasket put in but it wasnt the thicker gasket would this cause problems?
4: i have a feeling the rocket cover gaskets i put in aswell might have been for a different 1.6 engine aswell as im having majior oil leaks around were the rocket cover joins to the head, dose any one no if they are different for the ecotec compared with the none ecotec
5: i have a air leak on the air pipe that gose from the air sensor round the back of the engine and connects to the accelorator housing. dose any1 no what this pipe is called i cant find 1 anywhere and coz its after the sensor its causing me problems!

any help on these 5 problems would be appreciated

Hya mate.

1. If there's no sensor there is nothing to tell the ecu something is wrong...but you may still get problems. (I never had a maf meter on mine n it drove sweet lol)

2. I had a 1.2 fuel pump on a 1.6 n I never noticed a difference...you will find out the answer to question 1 n 2 when you get the car running...

3. The thinner gasket shouldn't cause problems but you may find it blows easier...

4. I don't know if they are different or not. If you want/need a new one just get one using the engine code...that way it doesn't matter if the gaskets are different on each engine.

5. As for this pipe I don't know the name. If you ring a scrap yard or a motor factor and describe it they should be able to sort you out.

Hope I have helped mate

cheers mate fanks for repling. i already have the car running and runs like a sack of poo. the cat is a big problem as its the original 1.2 cat and i have bort a few but they dont sceem to fit! the gasket set i bort was for either the c16xe and the x16xe but it still leaks out the rocket cover soaking the hole engine. plus its also smoking really bad, im goin through 5l of oil every week!!!!!! starting to hate my car but i love her :@

Have you tried a cat from a 1.6?

When you say its running 'poo' in what way? Rough, mis firing?

The smoke is it coming from the leak at the cam cover or from the exhaust?
Do you know what engine you have in yours?

When you did the swap what exactly have you swapped? (just the engine or everything like loom, Ecu etc)
