Corsa Sport CTS problem

Post by blaney5 »

Hi Guys,

I am having a bit of an issue with my corsa sport. In the past couple of days it has began too idle high aprox. 2.5k rpm, when I get to a junction and dip the clutch. It has now started doing it when I start the car. I began searching the forums and initially thought it was the idle control valve but after more searching found out about the paper clip test.

This video shows the test, first with the car running and then without. You can see it idling very high at the start.

So the code it showing is 15 relating to the Coolant Temp. sensor (High Voltage).

Without knowing to much about the ECU codes would you agree that that is the right diagnosis?

and

What is the diffrence between high and low voltage errors?

I am going to get a sensor from the local AF. only 12 quid.

Cheers!

Wife's 1995 C14SE Sport has the same problem, I changed the ICV and it seemed to cure it and the old one was solid, wouldn’t move but a week later it did the same as yours, sitting at 2.5 to 3K, but it only does it when cold, give it ten fifteen minuets and it settles down to normal 900.
I have changed EVERYTHING under the bonnet electrical, all the sensors and stuff and done the Opel recommended removal of the three way connector on the throttle position sensor, still does it, also looses 1/2L coolant per 500km (300m) but not dropping any and maintaining good coolant pressure, no bubbles in header (new) tank, temp gauge now sits at 85 degrees all day long, also new pump, rad, pipes, thermostat, head gasket a year ago as it used to overheat in the summer.
