yer true not only do they sound awful, but they are cheap and nasty.

My mate thought he\'d do it your way, blew up his brand new amp within about a month. Took it to a mate of mine who is an audio dealer, too see if there was anything he could do, and his first question was what is it. I said splx, and he just laughed and said throw it on the pile over there with the rest of them.....consequently i found a lot of second hand looking splx amplifiers and speakers stacked nicely at the back of his unit

But i suppose if ur just wanting something to make a rumble in your boot, go for it. But bear in mind u still need an amp..... which will be around £100 at least, along with a wiring kit, which will be around £20 at least.......and if u dont know what your doing, some1 to fit it all, which may be around another £30 at least......
you must be deaf then ;) they sound f***in awfull!
Without blowing my own trumpet (hey ho) i would say i have one of the better installs around here, and i know what good sound is, splx is poo, if ur going for competition sounds in ur car, but if you just want a bit of loudness and a bit of a rumble then splx, as i said is ok...properly set up of course....

If you are going for competition sounds then you need to be lookig at spending more than a few hundred quid.

Get onto www.utopiaaudio.co.uk forum or talkaudio forum and ask around. OZAudio from the utopiaaudio forum has just spent nearly 2k+ to get his install up to competition spec.

Thats with 2 usamp amps, 1 powerbass amp and 2 x 12\" 4000watt oz audio subs.

The pic below shows his basic install for the DBDrag comp at PVS. He now has the OZAudio subs in place of the PowerBass subs.

and he has had to have this battery fitted to make it all sound better!

Its an expensive hobby, but if you are seriously interested in competition entering then speak to Dave@Utopiaaudio aka troublemaker on here and I am sure he will help guide and advice tou.
