Changed EGR valve now problems..

when i start the car up for the first time, If the car idles, the car goes up to 95 degrees Celsius (Normal running temperature) I then hear a click under the bonnet (Also the fan is supposed to kick in at around this point but doesn't) then the temperature goes down really quite fast.

If the car has been driven, and i come to a traffic jam for example, the temperature will just keep getting higher and higher, its gone to 105 (just before the red) and then if i switch the air con on full and full heat, the temperature will start coming down a little, but that's a little inconvenient cause the weather is starting to get a little hot for that now. Also, the temperature goes down if i start driving it again.

originally i thought there might be an air lock in the system, but was then told that these cars are supposed to bleed themselves (run for 10 minutes with the coolant top off, whilst squeezing the top radiator hose) and yes, i have done this.

Also, before i changed the EGR valve everything was fine! and i didn't do anything different than what I've done before and this hasn't happened before :/

Anyone got any ideas that i could try please? :)

i was thinking maybe its the thermostat at fault? or possibly blocked radiator? hmmmm...

All of my corsas did/do this i just mix the coolant abit stronger to keep the temp down you can also wire your fan to a switch so you turn it on and off as you want so you dont have to put the heater on to cool it

it wasn't like this before the EGR valve change though, the temp raised to 97/98 degrees AT MOST then the radiator fan kicked in then it went back down to 95.. i'm going to go out in a sec to see if the thermostat is at fault then i will report my findings on here :)

Egr has nothing to do with the fan or stat its just happened as a coincidence

i know the egr has nothing to do with the fan/thermostat at all, i was just stating that before the egr valve change, everything was fine and working how it should work :) maybe i should completely drain the coolant, clean it and renew it? just to see how it goes :) and possibly a stronger mix this time!

this has been solved now, took it to an auto electrician and he bridged the fan and the fan is coming on, so he said the only other thing it could be is the radiator switch, or the radiator is blocked. so ill drain all the coolant, clear the whole system by putting a garden hose in the top rad hose and open the bottom hose to let it all run out, refill the coolant, and then buput a new radiator switch on and then all should be well :D
